The Love Bead (2nd in Series), was created from an original drawing by Khrynn and David Schmidt, sibling and parent of Cameron Schmidt, honored Beads of Courage recipient at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH.
Their design features two hands clapsed together, forming the shape of a heart. Khrynn and David said that the word love is reminsicent of, "Hearts, hugs and flowers. Love is trust and having someone hold your hand through anything."
The design was translated into glass by Dorie Guthrie of Brooklyn, New York. Dorie was first exposed to the medium when she stumbled upon a small glass studio in her hometown. Since graduating from Illinois State University in 2008, she has continued
her studies and being awarded scholarships at Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Pittsburgh Glass Center.
